Dress Code for Campers

Buddhists generally dress and behave modestly. Therefore, we ask our participants to respect tradition and dress accordingly. It is preferred that boys wear long pants and a clean short-sleeved shirt; girls should wear either pants or a long skirt, and their shoulders should not be exposed. Should summer temperatures become uncomfortable, shorts are acceptable so long as the hem does not reach above the knees. In all cases, Bermuda shorts, miniskirts, bare midriffs and tank tops are not considered proper attire. We highly recommend against wearing flip-flops or slippers as such footwear tends to provide little support for the ankles and traction and this may result in injury during physical activities. We ask that all facial jewelry be removed while on the monastery grounds. Lastly, please avoid any clothing that includes any reference to violence, sex, or drugs. We greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
